Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback

We’re getting on with the job of building more parks where they’re needed most and creating green, tranquil places where locals can relax in nature.

Over the past months we’ve been working on draft designs for two parks we’re planning to build in William Street, South Yarra.

The first is at 17 William Street, right next to the small park recently built as part of the South Yarra Siding Reserve works and Lovers Walk. The second is on the east side of William Street at the corner of Arthur Street (the land occupied by 2, 2A and 4 William Street).

The design vision for the new parks is to create spaces that provide opportunities for both passive and active recreation. Seating has been designed to complement the existing park furniture as well as provide a mix of seating styles. The paving palette draws from the existing surrounding red brick colours and native planting will support establishing biodiversity within the environment.

The orientation of spaces and location of garden beds aim to establish a soft buffer from the busy shared user paths and the heavy rail infrastructure. Larger areas of turf have been incorporated for more active social spaces such as small picnics or kicking a ball.

Consultation is now closed. Thank you to everyone who had their say.
