At Stonnington, we are preparing a new Domestic Animal Management Plan 2026-2029. The Plan will provide the framework for our animal management services, with a focus on dogs, cats, and the people who own or spend time around them.

To make sure the Plan reflects what matters to you, we’re seeking your input. Whether you're a pet owner, park user, neighbour or animal lover – your feedback will help shape the actions we take over the next four years.

The aim of a Domestic Animal Management Plan is to:

  • promote and encourage responsible pet ownership
  • ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • reduce the risk of dog attacks on people and animals
  • address over-population and reduce euthanasia rates
  • minimise nuisance issues like barking dogs and roaming cats
  • effectively manage dangerous, menacing and restricted breed dogs
  • support registration and identification.

Do you have a pet that should be registered? Find out more.

Take part in the survey below before Monday 1 September to share your experiences, ideas and priorities. Your feedback will help shape the draft plan. The draft will then go to Council for review and be made publicly available for comment before final adoption.
