Background

In 2026, the City of Stonnington will upgrade four existing raised pedestrian crossings at Little Chapel Street, and install new raised pedestrian crossings at:

  • Little Chapel Street at Malvern Road
  • King Street (east of Clifton Street)
  • Bangs Street (connecting the park to homes opposite).

These works are funded through the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program and are focused on improving pedestrian safety by slowing vehicles and improving visibility.

Building the new raised crossings will require the removal of some parking spaces – one at the Bangs Street crossing and one at the King Street crossing.

For more information read the Raised pedestrian crossings project page on our website.

What we're seeking feedback on

To install the new raised pedestrian crossing on King Street, the existing loading bay will need to be relocated. We’re seeking community feedback on whether the relocated space should:

  • Remain as a loading bay, or
  • Be converted to a standard parking space

The proposed new location is in front of 28a King Street.

See diagram below for the proposed location of the raised pedestrian crossing and the proposed relocation of the loading bay.

Have your say on whether the loading bay remains as a loading bay in the proposed location, or whether it is converted into a parking space in the proposed location by completing the survey below.

To make your views count, let us know what you think by Thursday 26 March 2026.

What happens next

At the close of consultation, all feedback will be collated and considered to make a final decision. The final decision will be updated on this page. You can keep up to date with the overall project by visiting the Raised pedestrian crossings project page on our website.
