Help shape parking around Stonnington’s busy precincts

We're exploring changes to parking restrictions in some of Stonnington's shopping, dining and business precincts, to help make it easier to find a park during busy times.

We know parking is something people feel strongly about, and every precinct is different. We're looking at when some parking restrictions apply and how long people can park.

No changes have been decided. We want to hear from residents, businesses, workers and visitors before Council makes a final decision.

What's on the table

Depending on where you are, this could include:

  • Extending existing time-limited parking (such as 15-Minute, 1-Hour and 2-Hour limits) to operate longer hours, across more days
  • Keeping existing Loading Zone, Truck Zone and similar restrictions as they are
  • Introducing new time-limited parking in some currently unrestricted spaces near businesses

Find parking proposals near you

Choose your precinct or suburb to find proposals in your area. Select a proposal from the "Showing All Projects" list, or select its marker directly on the map, then select "Visit Project" to view its page. If you know your area, you can also search or filter by location to find it.

How to have your say

Each precinct has its own page with specific details, and its own short survey. Use the map and precinct list on this page to find your precinct, read what's being proposed, then complete the survey on that page.

Businesses and residents are also welcome to drop into an information session, no need to book. See the Information Sessions tab for dates, times and locations.

Affected residents and businesses within the notification area will receive written notification. Anyone can provide feedback through the survey for their area.

No decisions have been made. Feedback received will be considered alongside technical advice, traffic and parking data, and broader community benefit, before a further report is presented to Council later in 2026, seeking a decision on any changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why we're exploring this

On-street parking is limited, particularly in spaces closest to shops, cafes, restaurants, services and other businesses.

Our review found that in some locations:

  • Parking restrictions only apply Monday to Friday, even though businesses are busy on weekends.
  • Restrictions finish earlier in the day, while restaurants and other businesses continue operating into the evening.
  • Some spaces close to businesses have no time limit and can be occupied by the same vehicle for long periods.

This can reduce parking turnover and make it harder for customers and visitors to find a convenient park. Any changes would aim to make better use of the parking available, and improve access to local businesses throughout the week and into the evening.
