This review is about when parking restrictions apply and how long people can park in some spaces. We are not proposing to introduce paid parking as part of this consultation.

The changes being explored vary by precinct and may include:

• Extending existing time-limited parking to operate longer hours, across more days
• Keeping existing Loading Zone, Truck Zone and similar restrictions as they are
• Introducing new time-limited parking in some currently unrestricted spaces close to businesses

These changes would only apply to parking next to non-residential properties, such as shops, cafes, restaurants, offices and other businesses. You can view the map for your precinct to see exactly what's being explored.

On-street parking is limited, particularly close to shops, cafes, restaurants, services and other businesses. The changes being explored aim to increase parking turnover so more customers and visitors have an opportunity to find a convenient park.

Many existing parking restrictions only operate during limited hours or on weekdays, even though local businesses can be just as busy on evenings and weekends. In some areas, we're exploring extending existing restrictions to operate from 9am to 9pm, seven days a week, so parking continues to turn over throughout the day, evening and weekend.

Some unrestricted spaces close to businesses can be occupied by the same vehicle for long periods. Introducing time limits in some of these locations could increase turnover and make these convenient spaces available to more customers and visitors throughout the day.

No. What's being explored is different in each area. Only some unrestricted spaces are being considered for timed parking, generally where they are close to shops, cafes, restaurants, services and other businesses. Check the map for your area to see what's being explored.

We know workers may need to park for longer periods. What we're exploring aims to prioritise convenient on-street spaces close to businesses for shorter visits, and encourage longer-stay parking in nearby off-street car parks or streets further from the main business area, where these options are available. However, every precinct is different, and we want to hear from local workers about how these changes could affect them as part of this consultation.

That depends on where you live and what's being explored in your area. These changes would only apply to parking next to non-residential properties, such as shops, cafes, restaurants, offices and other businesses. For mixed-use buildings, a property is considered non-residential where the ground floor is used for a commercial purpose. We encourage residents to check the map for their area and tell us how these changes could affect them. Permit parking is not part of this review.

No. Every area has different businesses, operating hours and parking needs. We reviewed parking conditions in each area and tailored what's being explored based on what we found.

We reviewed on-street parking across 25 local business areas, considering existing restrictions, unrestricted parking, nearby off-street parking and business operating hours. We also looked at parking conditions during busy evening periods, including Friday and Saturday nights.

No final decision has been made. We're consulting residents, businesses, workers and visitors before Council decides whether to proceed with any of the changes being explored. These changes are considered interim measures, a broader, area-specific parking review may consider different restrictions in future.

We'll review all feedback received during the consultation. Feedback will inform what changes do or don't go ahead in each area. The community feedback and next steps will then be presented to Council before it makes a final decision.
