Proposed changes to car park arrangements | Have your say

The City of Stonnington is proposing to extend pay parking hours in the Murphy Street car park - to encourage short‑term customer parking and improve the car park operation.

The Murphy Street car park is designed for short-term customer parking to reduce parking in the local residential streets.

At present, the car park operates as pay parking from 9am to 6pm daily. Between 6pm and 9am parking is free and car park occupancy after 6pm is generally higher.

Under the proposal, pay parking hours will be from 9am to 9pm daily, an increase of three hours per day.

Before a decision is made to extend the pay parking hours, we invite you to have your say on the proposed change.

1.Under the proposal, to park in the Murphy Street car park motorists must purchase a ticket, or begin a PayStay parking session, between the hours 9am and 9pm daily.

2.Current parking fees will remain the same, as follows:

  • $2.00 per hour, for the first two hours
  • $3.10 per hour, for every hour thereafter.

3.Parking fees are reviewed each year in Council’s budget.

4.Resident parking permits DO NOT provide an exemption in an off-street car park.
