Identifying health and wellbeing needs

To further inform the development of the Health and Wellbeing Plan (2025-29), we are seeking community input to better understand the challenges our community face in achieving overall health and wellbeing.

We want to understand what gets in the way of you achieving complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing.

  • Physical wellbeing: This means being healthy and not having sickness or injury. It includes things like fitness, eating well, getting enough rest, and how well your body works.
  • Mental wellbeing: This is about doing well in different parts of life, like relationships, work, and hobbies. It shows how you feel and function emotionally and mentally.
  • Social wellbeing: This is about having good, positive relationships with friends, family, and coworkers. It also includes feeling connected to your community and being involved in activities.

It is a requirement of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 (the Act) that all local governments prepare a public Health and Wellbeing Plan within twelve months of Council elections. But more importantly, by developing a Health and Wellbeing Plan, Council and its partners demonstrate that:

  • they understand the health and wellbeing needs of the community
  • are clear about the priorities for improving health and wellbeing
  • are committed to improving health outcomes for everyone in the community
