About what's being proposed

We're proposing changes to the days and times parking restrictions apply on Beatty Avenue and Rose Street, to help increase the availability of limited on-street parking during busy periods, particularly in the evenings and on weekends.

We're asking for your feedback on the following:

  • Extending current timed parking restriction hours (such as 15-Minute, 1-Hour and 2-Hour parking) to operate 9am to 9pm, seven days a week
  • Introducing timed parking outside Loading Zone and Truck Zone hours, giving customers and visitors more parking options when those zones aren't operating

Here's an example of what the change in hours could look like:

Current restrictionsProposed restrictions
Existing timed parking, 9am to 6pm, Monday to FridayExisting timed parking, 9am to 9pm, 7 days
Loading Zone, 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • Loading Zone stays the same
  • Timed parking applies 6pm to 9pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 9pm Saturday and Sunday*

*Timed parking: this time limit would match other timed parking in the surrounding area, for example, 1-Hour or 2-Hour parking.

We know every area has its own mix of businesses, operating hours and parking needs, which we've considered as part of this review.

These changes would only apply to on-street parking next to shops, cafes, restaurants, offices and other businesses, including buildings with homes above a business.

What would stay the same

  • Days and hours for existing Loading Zone and Truck Zone restrictions
  • No Stopping areas, you would still not be able to stop or park where these signs apply
