Existing zone overview
Sandwiched between Toorak Road, Tooronga Road, Tooronga Station, and the Monash Freeway, Zone 3 encompasses Tooronga Park and associated connections. The existing park features an extensive lawn space and established trees – promoting recreation and play, including dog exercise.
Proposed concept design
The concept design considers the redevelopment of Tooronga Park for active and passive recreation within a wetland habitat. Key elements of the concept design:
- new wetland to treat stormwater
- boardwalks and observation decks
- shelters, picnic and barbecue facility and park furniture
- lawn area with garden beds and tree planting
- basketball and netball hoops, ping-pong and scooter/BMX track
- fitness equipment
- upgrade shared user path

Creating an environment where parents would question its worth for young children. Perhaps concentrate on upgrading the existing playground.

Plans reduce local amenity. Lower property values. Increase disease (mosquitos/vermin/snakes). Collect effluent. Require costly maintenance.

We strongly oppose any restrictions to existing dog off-lead areas in the park. It is a well-used and necessary area for off-lead dogs

wetlands tend not to be frequented - restricting dogwalkers see Glen Iris wetlands example - almost no one is ever there except me with dog

Terrible waste of money - please survey the usage of the Glen Iris to get an idea how little these facilities / greening projects are used.

Council has not addressed the off lead dog issue with residents and has taken away a unique and necessary off lead dog park.

Love the sport additions! Wetlands great, but any space for footy/soccer/cricket with the kids..?? This space is great for that now.

Better access to the Tooronga road bridge from the footpath of to Toronga park. Currently the access between these paths don’t align.

Tooronga Park is one of the few off lead dog parks in the area, we use it every day with our 2 dogs, as do hundreds of dog owners.

Table tennis tables??? They will last about an hour before being broken/damaged/vandalised/stolen. A BMX track? No thanks.
