Zone 2

Existing zone overview

Zone 2 extends from Glenferrie Road in the West, to Toorak Road in the East. The zone is characterised by active recreation facilities associated with Sir Zelman Cowen Park, as well as the recently upgraded playground.

The zone has been sub-divided in to two broad areas:

  • Zone 2A - Sir Zelman Cowen Park: The main active recreation reserve comprising sporting ovals, pavilions, car parking, playground and path network.
  • Zone 2B - Talbot Crescent: A passive recreation zone directly east of Ferrie Oval, encompassing resultant open space from the Toorak Road Level Crossing Removal Project.

Proposed concept design

The concept design for the Talbot Crescent portion contains key elements for passive recreation:

  • raingarden to treat stormwater and create habitat
  • trees and garden bed planting
  • picnic and barbecue facilities
  • new fitness equipment
  • upgrade shared user path

sue says:

There is a significant number of people using this park to walk dogs off lead and nothing in your proposal to indicate why this should cease

28 August, 2024

Sue says:

Interaction between dogs/bikes is problematic as the cyclists use the bike track as a time trial venue creating friction with dog and owner.

Sue says:

The concept design is flawed. With 140 characters you are not fair dinkum about feedback. How do we put in writing what we really think?

Wendywoo says:

The conversion of the park from an off lead dog facility to an on lead one is shortsighted + ill advised disregarding the majority of users.

Local member says:

Cars run through that pedestrian crossing all the time trying to get onto the freeway. No one wants to eat next to a highway....

I would really like to see education signage on what birds and amphibians you may find in that area. Plant bird attracting trees.

Annie says:

Is there an opportunity to remove the concrete lining from Gardiners Creek?

10 August, 2024

Richard says:

The path crossing Toorak Rd is dangerous, cars trying to get onto freeway from Talbot and ignoring red light, this needs fixing first.

10 August, 2024

Rod Taylor says:

No consideration has been made for parking or the dangerous Toorak Road Pedestrian Crossing resolve this issue first!!

Rod Taylor says:

Why is it that you have no facilities for off leash dog exercise areas .... they exist at the moment and are being removed
