There is an existing “floating” GoGet van operating in this street which this application proposed to transition into a dedicated bay. The bay fronts the German Club carpark so is considered suitable for a dedicated van space. Most objections related to parking demand in the area and confusion about whether there would be an additional GoGet vehicle installed, rather than the transition of the existing floating car share vehicle. The location of the car share bay will be shifted one parking space north from the location originally proposed due to the need to maintain adequate sight lines at the pedestrian crossing on Dandenong Road. Due to majority support for transitioning the floating vehicle into a dedicated space and the good utilisation of the existing floating vehicle, a GoGet car share space will be installed in this location. Two car share operators applied to install a dedicated bay in this location, so existing membership base across the two providers was considered, along with the utilisation of the existing “floating” GoGet vehicle already operating on Irving Avenue. Accordingly, this space will transition the existing floating GoGet vehicle already operating on Irving Avenue into a dedicated GoGet car share bay. The vehicle installed in the dedicated bay will be a passenger vehicle instead of the existing van. Feedback from the community was not supportive of a proposed car share bay in this location and there was a lack of evidence of sufficient demand. Therefore no car share parking space will be installed at this location.
