High Street design

The High Street design aims to create a welcoming and cohesive streetscape that reflects Armadale's character and makes it easier to move through the area.

The existing topiary trees (Ficus microphylla hillii) — a familiar feature of Stonnington's shopping strips — will be retained where possible, with failing trees replaced and new ones added. Upgraded tree grates will improve soil health and water access. A new kerbside paving band will create a defined amenity zone with seating, bins and wayfinding signage, extending through to Kings Arcade, key corners and across the rail corridor to create a more connected feel. At Morey Street, a new pedestrian crossing, narrowed roadway and green planting will improve safety and mark the entry to the precinct. The heritage substation presents an opportunity for public art, and existing asphalt surfaces will be renewed.
