Help shape parking in Stonnington

Our city is growing and the way we live, work and play is changing - increasing the need to better manage our roads and parking.

To address these changes, we are undertaking a thorough review of parking across Stonnington. This includes parking for bicycles, motorcycles and cars and considering how space currently used for parking could be re-utilized to benefit the community.

We know there are many challenges and need your help to explore ways to make changes that align with community expectations, balance the needs of all road users and respond to future growth.

This initial consultation is the first step in a longer process to develop a Parking Action Plan and update the Resident Parking Policy and Scheme, and create an Activity Centre Parking Policy.

Consultation closes Sunday 15 September 2024.

You’ve shared some thoughts about parking in Stonnington to help us develop the following strategies over the last four years, all of which is being considered in the Parking Action Plan.

You told us that parking is an important local issue, but that delivering and advocating for sustainable and enjoyable pedestrian, cycling and public transport options is also a high priority.

You also told us you want more trees, seating and wider footpaths.

Now we need your help to get the balance right, so our streets work for everyone whether walking, cycling, using public transport or driving.

Council will undertake research, benchmarking, and consider best practices and expert advice combined with feedback from this consultation will be used to develop the draft Parking Action Plan.

And, you’ll have the opportunity to give feedback on the draft plan, to make sure we get it right!

Once we’ve finalised the Parking Action Plan, the next step will be to get your thoughts to help shape an updated Resident Parking Scheme, and create an Activity Centre Parking Plan.

We will give you ample opportunities to contribute to the parking conversation and provide feedback on the draft plans before they are formally adopted.
