Have your say on lighting upgrades
The proposed upgrades will enhance the existing lighting, improve safety and extend the hours that the park can be used for sports and active recreation.
T H King Oval is used for cricket, football and is very popular with the surrounding community for exercise and dog walking. The existing lighting has dimmed as the system has become outdated and simply replacing the globes will not be sufficient to reach current standards.

This aerial view of T H King Oval is a visual representation for illustrative purposes only. The location of the lights may be subject to final changes.
About the proposed upgrades
To meet community sports lighting standards, we’re proposing to install energy-efficient LED lighting and upgrade the supporting infrastructure, including:
- installation of 4 new 25 metre lighting poles at the same or similar locations as existing poles
- targeted, low-spill lights
- adjustable settings for sports that are dimmable for recreation and non-sporting use
- remote management for scheduling and fault detection.
The new lights will appear brighter, however with low-spill lighting technology, the light will be contained to the sports grounds and adjustments can be made if there is unplanned light spillage.
For most recreational activities and sports training, the lighting will be kept at a dimmer level, while during higher level sports games, it will be increased to meet the required lighting standards.
T H King Oval is located next to Gardiners Creek, so the new lighting will seek to minimise the impact and disturbance of the artificial lighting on wildlife, in line with Australian Standards.
Have your say
Before proceeding further, we want to better understand community priorities for the upgraded lighting to maximise oval use. We want to understand when you currently use the ground and your priorities for scheduling the lighting to meet oval user needs.
Feedback will close Sunday 14 September 2025.
At the close of consultation, your views will be considered in a decision to progress this proposal and to seek future funding to deliver this project.
