Thank you to everyone who attended our recent 'Meet Your Councillor' community meetings. We hope you found the evening informative and were able to connect with your Councillors' and community members.

A total of 122 community members attended across all three meetings held in October and November 2023. Councillors and Council officers were able to discuss matters of concern with residents and traders and feedback was shared with the appropriate teams.

Here is what people had to say...

  • Community safety

    Many residents voiced their concerns about various safety issues across all three wards, including break-ins, theft and general safety.

  • Rubbish collection

    Residents raised concerns about the times and frequency of rubbish collection in various suburbs.

  • Toorak Village upgrade

    Many community members at the North Ward meeting were interested in the progress of the Toorak Village upgrade and the timeframe for works.

  • Chapel Street

    Community members expressed their interest in the upcoming Chapel Street Transformation project.

  • Trees

    Residents expressed their interest in the types of trees being planted in various streets.

  • Heritage protection

    There is a desire to see more effort to maintain heritage facades and buildings throughout the City of Stonnington.

  • Community garden

    Multiple community members expressed their interest in having a community garden in the municipality.

  • Street lighting

    Residents would like to see an increase in lighting throughout the municipality in order to improve safety at night.

  • Native flora and fauna

    Concerns were raised about the loss of trees through private development, and pressure on remaining native plant species as birds and possums search for reduced food supply.

  • Crime & anti-social behaviour

    Community members discussed their concerns about the level of crime and anti-social behaviour in various locations.

  • Indigenous recognition

    There is a desire to see improved recognition of Indigenous communities throughout Stonnington, through initiatives such as public art.

  • Planning

    Residents discussed how larger developments can reduce local amenity & the role of Council when they are not the planning authority.

  • Aged care

    Many people wanted to discuss the decision to end Council aged care services.
