Speakers on shop fronts

We are proposing to relax current restrictions on music speakers projecting from shop fronts.

It refers to section 144 (6).

Current:

(6) The owner, occupier and person in charge of land used for a commercial purpose must not cause or allow amplified speech or music to be audible outside the land unless each speaker is:

(a) within the building on the land;

(b) not less than three (3) metres from any entrance to the building;

Proposed:

(6) The owner, occupier and person in charge of land used for a commercial purpose must not, without a permit, cause or allow amplified speech or music to be audible outside the land unless each speaker is:

(a) within the building on the land;

(b) not less than three (3) metres from any entrance to the building;

Rationale:

This change will align with plans to change the Footpath Trading and Awning Policy to allows buskers to perform with speakers and music amplifiers.
