Council has embarked on the development of a long term plan for the future use and development of land in the Hawksburn Village. The plan will seek to protect and enhance what is good about the Village and will guide opportunities for enhancement and change to meet the anticipated needs of a growing population.

The directions of the structure plan will inform amendments to the Stonnington Planning Scheme to embed the plan's recommendations.

Stage 2 consultation (key directions)

Thank you for all of your feedback during the Stage 2 consultation. Council is now preparing the Draft Structure Plan. The Plan will cover use of land, transport, building height and density, open space and public realm.

What has happened so far

  • Stage 1 consultation: in November and December 2014, Council asked residents and traders what is liked about the area and what could change.

On 4 May 2015, Council endorsed the constraints and opportunities identified through the Stage 1 consultation and background analysis to inform the Stage 2 consultation.

  • Stage 2 consultation: in June 2015 Council asked the Hawksburn community for feedback on the vision for the future of Hawksburn Village, the activity centre boundary, managing pressure for development, public open space and movement in and around the centre.

Next Steps

Following the preparation of a draft Structure Plan, Council will consider the feedback in the Survey Analysis Report and whether to undertake consultation on the draft Structure Plan (stage 3 consultation). Stage 3 consultation is anticipated to be undertaken early 2016.
