This space is for Stonnington residents to learn and support each other to manage food and green waste sustainably. We can discuss home composting, worm farming, bokashi bins and use of Council's Food and Green Waste service.
Council staff will provide advice and information so please ask as many questions as you can.
We also encourage you to share your knowledge, ideas, successes and challenges to help Stonnington's community manage their food and green waste sustainably.
Council will be introducing the collection of food scraps in the current Garden Waste bin. From 1 March, your food and green waste will be composted by Council's green waste contractor to make valuable soil improvers which will be used on Victorian farms and in our local garden beds.
Interested in composting your food waste at home? Council provides discounted compost bins and worm farms through Compost Revolution, plus free delivery. If you live in an apartment, Council supports apartment buildings to set up communal worm farms to manage food and green waste onsite through our Apartment Composting Program.
