Archaeological works – April to June 2017

11 April 2017

An archaeological investigation will be conducted at the Cato Street car park ahead of the Cato Square redevelopment.

Archaeologists from Dr Vincent Clark and Associates will excavate the site looking for significant archaeological remains of an 1850s farm and 19th century housing believed to be preserved beneath the present car park.

The investigation will be conducted near the corner of Izett and Chatham Streets and will result in the closure of a portion of the existing car park.
